Mathematics X CBSE

About the Course

Mathematics is a science of numbers, formula of related structures, shapes and spaces in which they are contained and quantities and their changes. In this course of Class 10 mathematics you will learn about most mathematical activities such as deductive reasoning to find or establish the proof of various abstract properties. In this course the treatment and development of the various topics is logical  with simple and lucid explanation. Every chapter begins with a mathematical quotation and a photograph of a renowned mathematician, which motivates the reader and creates interest.

Mathematics is a science of modelling, like this course contains probability which allows you to predict certain and impossible events by the help of several experiments. Overall this course aims to cover the whole spectrum of school providing the known on mathematics covering the learning objectives. This course have tried to provide communicative skills with different range of styles and various discussions followed by different level of Quiz in Analytical and creative manner.

Distinguishing features

    • Fully covers the latest syllabus as prescribed by CBSE.
    • The development of mathematical concept in each chapter is logical and simple and preparation of each new idea is based on the preceding one.
    • Step-Wise working rule approach has been suggested for problem solving and same is followed in Illustrative examples in every chapter
    • Each chapter contains practice tests with multiple tries which provides students with hints to solve the particular question and enhance their level of understanding.
    • At the end of every chapter there is chapter test, which allows students to test their knowledge of particular topic.

Learning Objectives

    • Enhancing the school based knowledge of the student at early level..
    • Making the course easy and sophisticated emphasizing competency based educational process.
    • With this course the learner particularly explores responds invents and bring out the meaning to the relevant things.
    • Students can construct sufficient knowledge of Mathematics
    • Overall holistic development of children studying the course.
    • This course helps students to learn about many of the phenomena which they observe in their daily routine

Requirements

    • Refine their literary sensibility and enrich their aesthetic life through different literary generes.
    • Student should have different language notice.
    •  use a dictionary or Glossary available in the courses or library to access to difficult term.

Target Audience

    • Who is learning mathematics in class X student of class 9th &10th preparing for their Boards.
    • This course mainly targets the age student preparing for some of the govt. examination particularly for teaching field.

1.Real Numbers

In this chapter, we will begin with a brief recall of the divisibility of integers and will state some properties of integers, namely Euclid's division lemma, Euclid's division algorithm and the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic which will be used in the remaining part of this chapter to learn more about integers and real numbers.

2.Polynomials

In this chapter, we shall study about zeroes of a polynomial in more detail with particular reference to quadratic and cubic polynomial. Also, we shall study a famous result, known as division algorithm for polynomials and simple problems based on it.

3.Pair of Linear Equations in two variables

In this chapter, we wish to extend our previous knowledge of linear equations in two variables by considering a pair of such linear equations, taken together, to be called simultaneous equations. Accordingly, we shall be considering situational problems from everyday life which require a linear pair to represent their information. Besides, we shall first study their algebraic and geometric representations and later we shall discuss how these representations can be used for solutions of the pair of linear equations.

4.Quadratic Equations

In this chapter, we propose to study quadratic equations, various methods of finding their roots and relationship between discriminant and nature of roots. We shall also study some applications of quadratic equations in real-life situations.

5.Arithmetic Progression

In this chapter, we shall introduce and study one of such patterns namely, Arithmetic Progression in which succeeding terms are obtained by adding a fixed number to the preceding term. Also, we shall first learn how to find their nth terms and the sum of 'n' consecutive terms and later, use this knowledge in solving some day-to-day life problems in real situations.

6.Coordinate Geometry

In this chapter, we propose to establish the distance formula for finding the distance between two points whose coordinates are given and area of a triangle formula to compute the area of the triangle formed by three given points. Beside, we shall also study section formula to find the coordinates of the point which divide the line joining two given points in a given ratio.

7.Triangles

In this Chapter, we wish to introduce the concept of the similarity of triangles and later, apply this knowledge in giving a simple proof of Pythagoras Theorem learnt earlier.

8.Circles

In this chapter, we shall first develop the concept of tangents to a circle, then explore the existence of the tangents to a circle and two important theorems called, Tangent-Radius Theorem and Equal-Tangent-Lengths Theorem, with their applications some to geometric problems.

9.Constructions

In this Chapter, we shall learn some more constructions using the knowledge of the previous Class such as division of a line segment in a given ratio (internally), construction of a triangle similar to a given triangle and construction of tangents to a circle. We shall also study analysis of the constructions in order to learn the logical argument and reasoning involved in the required constructions.

11.Introduction to Trigonometry

In this chapter, we shall study some ratios of the sides of a right triangle with respect to acute angles, to be called trigonometric ratios of the angle and establish some identities involving these ratios, called trigonometric identities.

12.AOI

In this chapter, we shall be studying the use of trigonometric results to determine the heights and distances of various objects, without actually measuring them.

13.Areas related to circles

In this chapter we propose to apply our previous knowledge of perimeter and area of a circle in finding the areas of two special parts of a circle, to be called ‘sector’ and ‘segment’ of a circle. Besides, we shall also deal with problems based on areas and perimeters of some combinations of the above said plane figures involving circles (or parts of circles).

14.Surface Areas and Volumes

In this chapter, we shall learn to find the surface areas and volumes (or capacities) of such objects which we cannot classify under any of the basic solids that we have already studied in the previous Class. Besides, we shall also study the conversion of one solid into another

15.Statistics

In this chapter, we shall extend the study of these three measures, i.e. mean, median and mode from ungrouped data to that of grouped data and cumulative frequency graph or ‘Ogive’.

16.Probability

In this chapter, we shall be studying the numerical measure of uncertainty (occurring or not occurring) in various phenomenon that gives several results/outcomes instead of a particular one.
