STEM.org and its importance
What is STEM.org?
STEM.org, which is the longest continuously operating privately held organization in America focused on STEM education research and credentialing, has been in operation for an extended period.
Through an extensive collaborative effort, SER has worked closely with researchers, an international coalition of educators, administrators, NGOs, companies, and schools to establish a set of broadly representative STEM benchmarks.
STEM.org Educational Research (SER) has provided its services since 2001 to more than 4,500 schools, districts, and organizations across 25 countries. Some of the notable institutions that have benefitted from their services include Wayne State University, Malaysian Institute of Technology Academy, Artificial Intelligence Scientific Centre (Caribbean), Tioga Drone Camp, Estella’s Brilliant Bus, and Dearborn Public Schools. The STEM.org Accredited TM Trustmark offered by SER is highly esteemed and widely recognized as a symbol of excellence for students.
Yahoo Finance, Reuters, CNBC, The Boston Globe, NY Metro Parents, and Detroit Public Television are some of the prominent media outlets that have featured SER. The organization was chosen by the New York Times from a pool of over 80 organizations to create the first-ever multi-page STEM advertorial in the newspaper’s 166-year history, which aimed to define STEM education.
What is STEM.org Accreditation? STEM.org Accreditation is a rigorous evaluation process that is designed to ensure that STEM programs meet a set of high standards for quality and effectiveness. The accreditation process involves a comprehensive review of program materials, curriculum, teaching methods, and outcomes. The goal of the process is to ensure that STEM programs are meeting the needs of students, providing high-quality instruction, and preparing students for future success in STEM fields.
Some of the qualifications to be accredited include:
- Developing “21st-century skills” that include media proficiency and cross-cultural awareness.
- Offering original and innovative classes and lessons focused on STEM education.
- Integrating technology effectively into classrooms to support learning.
- Providing hands-on activities to enhance the learning experience.
