Physics  is that branch of science which deals with the nature and properties of matter and energy. The main  matter of physics includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. Class – 11 th course focus on - in depth understanding of the basic fundamentals  to explore the fundamental laws and principles of Physics. The content is created in a concise manner which is best suited for the revision and reinforcement of syllabus.

1.Physical World

The main focus of this chapter is Physics, scope and excitement; nature of physical laws, Physics, technology and society.

2.System of Units

In this chapter we will gain knowledge about need for measurement Units of measurement, systems of units, SI units, fundamental and derived units.

3.Length, mass and time measurements

In this chapter we will learn about atomic to astronomical range of variation of length , length measurements, time measurements, mass and weight measurements.

4.Significant Figures and Error Analysis

The main focus of this chapter is accuracy and precision of measuring instruments, errors in measurement, significant figures.

5.Dimensional analysis

In this chapter we will learn about dimensions of physical quantities, dimensional analysis and its applications.

6.Mathematical tools

In this chapter we will study about graphs and its uses , formulae of Algebra , quadratic equation , Binomial theorem, trigonometrical function, T- ratios , important formulae of trigonometry, two systems of logarithms, characteristic and Mantissa .

7.Uniform Motion

In this chapter we will learn about mechanics, statics, particle kinematics, particle dynamics, objects in motion, concept of a point object, motion in one ,two or three dimensions , frame of reference, motion in a straight line, position-time graph, speed and velocity, elementary concepts of differentiation and integration for describing motion, uniform and non-uniform motion, average speed and instantaneous velocity.

8.Uniformly accelerated motion

In this chapter we will learn about acceleration – average, instantaneous , uniform and variable acceleration, speeding up and slowing down, velocity-time and position time graphs, relation for uniformly accelerated motion (graphical treatment).

9.Vectors

In this chapter we will learn about scalar and vector quantities, position and displacement vectors, general vectors and their notations, equality of vectors, multiplication of vectors by a real number, addition and subtraction of vectors, relative velocity, unit vector, resolution of a vector in a plane, rectangular components, scalar and vector product of vectors.

10.Motion in a Plane

In this chapter we will focus on topics like projectile motion, types of projectile ,horizontal projectile , trajectory of oblique projectile, maximum height , time of flight, horizontal range , cases of uniform velocity and uniform acceleration projectile motion, uniform circular motion.

11.Newton's Laws of Motion

In this chapter we will study about intuitive concept of force, inertia , Newton's first law of motion , momentum and Newton's second law of equilibrium of concurrent forces; unit and dimension of force, impulse, impulse- momentum theorem; connected motion ; law of conservation of linear momentum; inertial and non – inertial frame of reference.

12.Friction

The main focus of this chapter is friction - sliding , limiting ,static and kinetic friction; coefficient of friction , angle of friction, laws of friction, rolling friction, lubrication.

13.Dynamics of Uniform Circular Motion

In this chapter we will learn about measuring of angle, angular displacement , angular velocity, angular acceleration; vector relation between linear and angular displacement ; scalar relation between linear and angular velocities ; scalar relation between linear and angular acceleration ; centripetal force, examples of circular motion (vehicle on a level circular road, vehicle on a banked read).

14.Work, Energy and Power

In this chapter we will study about work done by a constant force and a variable force, kinetic energy, work-energy theorem, power, motion of potential energy, potential energy of a spring, conservative forces, conservation of mechanical energy (kinetic and potential energies), non-conservative forces, motion in a vertical circle elastic and inelastic collisions in one and two dimensions.

15.Centre of mass

In this chapter we will study about centre of mass of a two-particle system, momentum conservation and centre of mass motion , centre of mass of a rigid body centre of mass of a uniform rod; moment of a force, torque, angular momentum, law of conservation of angular momentum and its applications.

16.Rotational Mechanics and Moment of Inertia

In this chapter we will learn about equilibrium of rigid bodies, rigid body rotation and equations of rotational motion, comparison of linear and rotational motions, moment of inertia, radius of gyration, values of moments of inertia for simple geometrical objects , statement of parallel and perpendicular axes theorems and their applications.

17.Gravitation

In this chapter we will learn about Keplar's laws of planetary motion, universal law of gravitation. Acceleration due to gravity and its variation with altitude and depth, gravitational potential energy and gravitational potential; escape velocity, orbital velocity of a satellite , geo-stationary satellites.

18.Mechanical Properties of Solids

In this chapter we will learn about elastic behaviour, stress-strain relationship, Hooke's law, Young's modulus, bulk modulus, shear modulus of rigidity, Poisson's ratio, elastic energy.

19.Fluid at Rest

In this chapter we will study about fluids, density and specific gravity, fluids in equilibrium, pressure, pressure due to a fluid column, Pascal's Law, hydrostatic paradox, atmospheric pressure, Torricelli's Experiment, Open-Tube Manometer, different units of pressure, variation of atmospheric pressure with height, buoyancy, Archimedes Principle.

20.Fluid in Motion

In this chapter we will learn about viscosity, unit of n, Relation between decapoise and poise, Stoke's Law, terminal velocity, flow of liquid through a pipe, Poiseuille's Equation , streamline flow, laminar flow and velocity profile, turbulent Flow, critical velocity, Reynolds Number, importance of viscosity , equation of continuity, energies possessed by a liquid, Bernoulli's Theorem, Torricelli's Theorem.

21.Surface Tension

In this chapter we will focus on topics like intermolecular forces, origin of intermolecular forces, molecular range, surface tension, experiments to illustrate surface tension, difference between the behaviour of an ordinary stretched elastic membrane and that of a free surface of a liquid, surface film, Surface Energy.

22.Mechanical Properties of Fluids

In this chapter we will study about pressure due to a fluid column, Pascal's law and its applications (hydraulic lift and hydraulic brakes; effect of gravity on fluid pressure, viscosity, Stokes' law, terminal velocity, streamline and turbulent flow critical velocity, Bernoulli's theorem and its applications, surface energy and surface tension, angle of contact, excess of pressure across a curved surface, application of surface tension ideas to drops, bubbles and capillary rise.

23.Thermal Properties of Matter

In this chapter we will learn about heat, temperature, thermal expansion, thermal expansion of solids, liquids and gases, anomalous expansion of water, specific heat capacity, calorimetry, change of state - latent heat capacity.

24.Heat transfer

In this chapter we will focus on topics like heat transfer-conduction, convection and radiation, thermal conductivity, qualitative ideas of blackbody radiation, Wein's displacement Law, Stefan's law, Greenhouse effect.

25.Thermodynamics

In this chapter we will study about thermal equilibrium and definition of temperature (zeroth law of thermodynamics: heat, work and internal energy ) first law of thermodynamics, isothermal and adiabatic processes.

26.Second law of thermodynamics

In this chapter we will focus on topics like second law of thermodynamics, reversible and irreversible heat engine and refrigerator, Carnot's Theorem.

27.Kinetic Theory

In this chapter we will gain knowledge about equation of state of a perfect gas, work done in compressing a gas, kinetic theory of gases assumptions, concept of pressure, kinetic interpretation of temperature, rms speed of gas molecules, degrees of freedom, law of equiparation of energy (statement only) and application to specific heat capacities of gases, concept of mean free path, Avogadro's number.

28.Oscillations

In this chapter we will learn about periodic motion- time period, frequency, displacement as a function of time, periodic functions. simple harmonic motion (SHM) and its equation; phase, oscillations of a loaded spring-restoring force and force constant energy in SHM , kinetic and potential energies simple pendulum derivation of expression for its time period. free, forced and damped oscillations (qualitative ideas only), resonance .

29.Waves

In this chapter we will study about wave motion. transverse and longitudinal waves, speed of wave motion, displacement relation for a progressive wave principle of superposition of waves, reflection of waves, standing waves in strings and organ pipes, fundamental mode and harmonics, beats, Doppler effect.
